Salty Maul started due to the need of a leather front and trying to make one ourselves. Although a majority of this craft was self taught through trial and error and many hours watching youtube, we would not have the success we have had, had it not been for some companies we have reached out to over the years that have really put brotherhood over business. with thousands of competition out there these guys never hesitated to give some advice or share their contacts to help out another small business. Although I would absolutely love to have your business any of these other guys on this list would be money definitely well spent. Give these guys a like, follow, or get some product from them knowing you are supporting a business that are run but some really good dudes and dudettes. Im sure there are some names I missed and will update as we go.
Axe & Awl Leatherworks ( Spencer and his wife Courtney have made me some outstanding products and when I reached out to Spencer inquiring about adding radio straps to our collection he really helped steer me in the right direction.) Ladder Co. Leather ( Met Alex when he inquired about Laser etched shields and we kinda traded the secrets, he helped with straps and I gave him what I knew about lasers, he since went on to purchase what was formally Hedges leather and is killing it with shields!) Ridgeway Leatherworks ( Ive reached out to Rob a couple times on different products and equipment I see around his shop in his videos and he has always been friendly and supportive.) Hedges Leather ( The folks over at Hedges Leather deserve a shout out as well, although they since sold their business they helped guide me in different aspects of shields) Border Bombero Leather ( Denney has been a great brother to us even bringing a lot of business for us when we know he could do an outstanding job himself on it. Looking for a shield done all by hand no lasers hit him up for sure) A couple of other non-leather companies we support are: J5 fire lids( if you don't have one of these paddings in your helmet you don't know what true comfort is. AxeHead Threads ( For all your embroidery needs these guys have a great business moto and overall great company) Next Rung( These guys made it their mission to combat the mental health issues surrounding first responders) I know I missed some and will add them soon but thank you everyone that has had an impact on our business and continued to run great companies. I hope to be able to pay it forward someday!
